Fall Schedule & Class Description for Eagle Students

Effective September 1, 2026

All Classes are Monday & Wednesday

11:15: to Noon - Fundamentals of Tai Chi & Qigong

This Fundamentals class is an introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong as a practical pathway to greater health, balance, mobility, mental clarity, and an overall feeling of well-being. Students are guided by our Certified Instructors at a comfortable pace, in a relaxed environment allowing students to develop a sense of flow while cultivating calmness, stability, and presence.

Participants will explore principles such as posture, balance, weight shifting, body awareness, breath coordination, and effortless movement.

Ideal for adults of all ages and experience levels, Fundamentals of Tai Chi & Qi Gong is ideal for those who are interested in improving their physical and mental well-being, as well as experienced practitioners who wish to revisit the fundamentals, refine their movement quality, and enjoy a relaxed, meditative practice.

Suggested Background: No prior experience is necessary. All movements can be adapted to individual comfort, physical limitations, and ability levels.

Noon to 1:00 pm - Intermediate Plus

This dynamic 60-minute class balances relaxation and energy, familiarity and discovery, challenge and mastery. It is designed for students who are comfortable with the basics and are ready to deepen their understanding of Tai Chi principles while expanding their repertoire of forms.

Each class focuses on development of inner and external energy by refining posture, alignment, footwork, hand techniques, breath coordination, body mechanics, and the cultivation and direction of qi (energy). Students will continue to develop fluid, connected movement while gaining a deeper appreciation of how fundamental principles (The Ten Essentials of Tai Chi) are expressed across different forms and styles.

Classes are varied and engaging, often incorporating more than one form and Qigong practices within a single session. Students can expect a balance of review and progression, allowing them to strengthen existing skills while continually encountering new challenges.

Suggested Background: While all students are welcome to attend this class, some prior experience with Tai Chi or another martial art is helpful as this class will move at a faster pace than basic, beginner-level classes.  At-home practice of foundational movements is strongly encouraged to enable students to recognize their repetition through the different forms performed in class.

1:00 to 1:30: Advanced Tai Chi Techniques

Designed for dedicated practitioners and instructors, this fast-paced 30-minute class offers an opportunity and challenge to refine technique, deepen understanding, and explore the more advanced dimensions of Tai Chi practice.

This class emphasizes refinement, expression, and mastery. Students are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of timing, structure, energy and intent through the practice of a variety of forms.

Suggested Background: While all students are welcome to attend this class, we recommend a minimum of one year of experience with Tai Chi or another martial art. Students should be comfortable learning and retaining new material quickly, and at-home practice between classes is important in order to keep pace with the curriculum.
